About the Project

Our work centered on a pivotal product for a fintech enterprise- a pioneering Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platform. This product is a groundbreaking initiative in the realm of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and is designed to revolutionize digital ecosystems by securely structuring and sharing digital asset records within confidential networks. It operates as a closed network, facilitating real-time transactions between entities, such as different banks, without latency. Unlike traditional blockchain, it does not require concepts like consensus or proof of work and incorporates double-entry accounting ledgers.

The Challenge

The DLT product faced critical operational and developmental hurdles due to poor third-party execution:
 

  • Functionality Gaps: The application wasn't functioning as intended and lacked essential features and proper end-to-end testing.

  • Performance Issues & Downtime: Frequent performance problems led to prolonged system downtime.

  • Lack of Cloud Scalability: Absence of cloud deployment (AWS/IBM Cloud) prevented leveraging modern scalability and reliability.

  • Poor Code Management: Unstructured source code with no version control (GitLab) complicated collaboration.

  • Manual & Error-Prone Deployment: Complete absence of a CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins) resulted in error-prone manual deployments.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Gaps: Significant gaps in documentation and limited knowledge transfer hindered understanding of the platform's architecture.

  • Requirement Mismatch: The core problem stemmed from the third-party vendor failing to develop the tool according to the actual requirements.

The TechGrit Solution

To tackle these challenges head-on, our team at TechGrit devised a comprehensive strategy tailored to meet the client's needs. We began by migrating the source code to GitLab for effective version control and successful deployment across various environments, including AWS and IBM Cloud, to ensure scalability and reliability. We customized Kubernetes configurations for seamless orchestration and documented detailed configuration steps to facilitate successful deployment without reinstallation risks.

Our team also installed monitoring tools such as Zipkin for tracing runtime flows between microservices and integrated Prometheus and Grafana for performance monitoring. To enhance operational efficiency, we established CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to automate deployments and minimize manual errors. Additionally, we conducted comprehensive knowledge transfer sessions to empower internal teams with the technical understanding necessary for ongoing success. Our current efforts include making performance improvements and enhancements to prepare the product for going live.
